Exchange 2010 Public Folders database question
We are currently in a co-existance environment with Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2010. I've been noticing our Exchange 2010 public folder databases is about 5gb and is not showing any signs of getting smaller. We're only using Public Folders for OAB and Free/Busy until we get Outlook 2010. I'm not sure how to shrink this growing directory. R:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Mailbox\PF2003 It looks like it has tons of transaction log files each 1024 (1mb) in size. Any suggestions would be great? Thanks

Your pub01.edb size is 5 gb , and you have tons of log files. Are Public folders replicating from Exchange 2003 server , is full backup taken to delete log files. Arte there any events in event viewer, If you suspect please enable diagnostics logging to get few more events related to public folder. EMC.. server\diagnostics logging ... public folder Get-publicfolder |ft and | FL shows normal results ?

Yes we are replicating from 2003 to 2010 until all mailboxes have moved over. Ahh, backups. On the PF folder for 2010 we are not backing up that DB which are not commiting transation logs, that's my problem.

You are replicating Public folders ? and moving the mailboxes , both will generate the log file. You can stop generation of log files , if you enable circular logging. ( that is the normal practice used when you are moving mailboxes )
