Exchange 2010 Outlook 2010 Search not working

Dear fellow Sys Admins,

I'm pulling my hair out.

Environment: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 latest Updates and Exchange Server 2010 SP3 (Version 14.3 (Build 123.4)). Client is using Windows 7 SP1 and Outlook 2010 (14.0.6112.5000 (32-Bit)).

This is the only user, where the search function is not working.

Example 1: E-Mail in the inbox from yesterday. Sender is Brigitte. I enter "brigitte" in the search field and hit Enter -> no search results.
Example 2: A contact named Michael Ackermann. It is the first entry in the contact list. I enter "michael" in the search field and hit Enter -> no search results.

I already tried: recreating search index several times, deleted local OST several times, created a new Outlook profile several times, moved mailbox to a new database on a new storage and last week I swapped the computer to a completly fresh installed computer.

Intresting though is, if the user is searching via OWA, the search is working properly and instantly.

I have no idea what to do next. Any help is deeply appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

If your are using Outlook with .ost files, then you should check windows search.

Ost file should be indexed by windows search and then you will be able to search anything in outlook in cached mode.

You need to check your indexing options in Control Panel and select .ost file or outlook profile

Hi Remigiusz,

thank you for your reply.

I haven't changed any indexing options in Control Panel plus it is a fresh installed computer, therefore the indexing options has to be default. And the default indexing options will index .ost files.

Hi

How about using "from:Brigitte" ?

Did you choose the current folder when you search it

Hi,

Im sorry I didnt reply in time for this thread, I saw this case and did some research at that time, I am just not very sure what cause the issue, because you created a new profile and re-builded the index, so I did further research later and didnt reply in time.

Did you test in other machine use this account ?

I did some screenshots, though it contains confidential data. Is there a safe way I can send you the screenshots?
