Exchange 2010 Online Archiving: How protect mailboxes ??

Actually Microsoft have Exchange Protection for Exchange.. At the end of this year that tool will dissappear..

EOP has some protection funcionalities....but not all

So, I think is better to use 3rd tools like Symantec, ESET, Bitdefender, etc....

My question is: If we put out personal archives on Exchange online....Could we protect then with this 3rd tools ?? :(:(

So that, I don't sure to move our personal archive to Exchange online..

Hi Carl,

Are you talking about "forefront protection for exchange" vs. EOP.

I don't think that MS will allow you to scan email stored on their premises, moreover you might need to have EOP subscription as well.

But if you see, all the emails in the Personal Archive will be mostly through the primary mailbox which can be protected as you would like. Also any emails accessed on the local PC would be separately scanned.

Hence the emails on the archive that will only be accessed via your clients should be safe, unless something breaks loose over MS.

Hi,

In addition of Satyajit mentioned, Exchange Online archiving keep all important data in one place and easily implement security solution.
Also, we can deploy IRM, audit and encrypt between Exchange server and client. For your reference: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/compliance-and-security-features-in-exchange-online-archiving.aspx

Thanks
