Exchange 2010 Mailbox Storage Limits
Hi all, We are in the process of migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. Within Exchange 2003 we could set a storage limit for all mailbox's globally. Within exchange 2010 I found the limit option for storage group is this the same or does this set the storage group size limit and not the mailboxes limit iside it. Thanks in advance.

Within exchange 2010 I found the limit option for storage group is this the same or does this set the storage group size limit and not the mailboxes limit iside it. Thanks in advance. In Ex 2007/2010 there are two levels where you set this quota. 1. At Mailbox Database level (Global setting, which is applied to all mailboxes in this database if mailbox property "UseDatabaseQuotaDefaults" is set to true.) 2. At Mailbox level There is flag for mailboxes "UseDatabaseQuotaDefaults", which is set to true By default when you create mailboxes. This flag tells that on this mailbox, quota settings of mailbox database will apply. And if you turn off this "UseDatabaseQuotaDefaults" flag, then quota settings on this mailbox are applied to this mailbox instead of Mailbox Database Quotas. Plz have a look into these MS article How to Configure Storage Quotas for a Mailbox Database http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201753(EXCHG.80).aspx Configure Storage Quotas for a Mailbox http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998353.aspx Hope this help u. Exchange 2010 doesn't have storage groups any more. At least not that you can readily see or manage. You can set quotas on the mailbox store. All mailboxes within that store get those limits if set to use the store defaults, the default setting when a mailbox is created. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." .
