Exchange 2010 Install - Setup /PrepareAD Fail
I am installing Exchange 2010 on a Virtual Windows 2008 R2 Server (running on ESXi).Inititally I had issues with the Transport Role Failing. I had to uninstall and try to re-install.I deleted all relevant entries in AD that I could see, removed the Watermark in the registry, rebooted, and now when I run the setup /prepareAD I get this message:Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Deployment.ScriptExecutionException: The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); initialize-ExchangeUniversalGroups -DomainController $RoleDomainController" was run: "The well-known object entry B:32:C262A929D691B74A9E068728F8F842EA:CN=Organization Management\0ADEL:ba3e97c6-f4a1-422d-bb5d-d0ef6161bd65,CN=Deleted Objects,DC=xxx,DC=com on the otherWellKnownObjects attribute in the container object CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=lifeastheitgirl,DC=com points to an invalid DN or a deleted object. Remove the entry, and then rerun the task.I have tried removing this via ADSI Edit, and LPD.exe... ADSI Edit tells me : "There is no editor registered to handle this attribute type.", and when I use lpd.exe it wont let me delete it because it has child objects, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to delete the child objects!!Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Please check the value on otherWellKnownObjects for CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration, DC=xxx,DC=com. Note: You can follow the steps below to modify the value. 1. Please use adsiedit.exe and then navigate to CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration, DC=xxx,DC=com. 2. Right click on it and select properties. 3. There please find otherWellKnownObjects. Please check the value on it. 4. Please modify it and set Null and then click ok. 5. After that, please remove Null from the value, thus the value is set to <Not Set>. Please re-run the above steps to check the value on otherWellKnownObjects on CN=Configuration, DC=xxx,DC=com. You can check more detail information from the following article, though it is for Exchange 2007, there we can find the information about OtherWellKnownObject and method how to delete the value on it. I was feeling frisky this morning and deleted that entry, everything still seems to be working right with exchange 2007, I haven't rebooted the exchange 2007 server yet though. I'm installing 2010 right now will report back if it all goes well or not.
