Exchange 2010 Distribution Group Message Moderation

Hi,

I have Distribution Group Message Moderation enabled for a Group.  I have moderators configured as well as a couple of users who don't require message approval.

A user, who doesn't require message approval, sends an email to the distribution group.  Everyone in the Group gets it and all seems fine.  Then someone who received that email (not an approved sender) does a Reply All to that email.. and everyone in the Group gets it.  The moderator doesn't even get an approval request.

Is this by design or an error somewhere?

Hi,

According to your description, I have tested the situation in my lab machine.

The answer is different from your description.

When a unapproved sender does a Reply All to that email,it still request the moderator to approve its request.

I believe there is something wrong with your setting, please run the below command to check the setting:

Get-DistributionGroup Distribution Group name | fl

For detailed information about the message moderation , please refer to :

Hi,

Thanks, but i have double checked the setting in ECP and via the powershell command.

BypassNestedModerationEnabled is set to False

ModerationEnabled is set to True.

I'm on Exchange Rollup 7.

Anything other suggestion I should look at.

Thanks!

Hi,

I suggest you can try to re-add moderation for the distribution group

Set-DistributionGroup -Identity 'Customer Support' -ModeratedBy "Amy" -ModerationEnabled $true -SendModerationNotifications 'Internal'
