Hi there - I've been noticing this odd behaviour with my Exchange when I add a new site (different ip subnet), it halts the Exchange server and email traffic stops. Exchange 2010, Exchange is in DAG mode with two physical servers, Windows 2008R2 64bit. My setup is one AD site in one domain (no child domains). It seems that it is configured to be reliant on the one site alone and when I add a different site Exchange breaks. Id like to re-visit this if I can take it off of its dependence so it will give me the capability of creating multiple AD sites. Please advise. Cheers.

Ok found that however here's my current setup: 1 Site Object all are in this object called csaa.local: 3 DCs that are in 192.168.22.0/24 subnet (corporate office) 1 DC that is in 192.168.25.0/24 subnet (remote) 1 DC that is in 192.168.26.0/24 subnet (remote) 1 DC that is in 192.168.27.0/24 subnet (remote) I don't have anything setup in the subnet right now in Sites and Services, how should I create separating the above groups? Do I also need to create different sites per remote office location and assign them their network subnets? Cheers.

It depends how you going to design it your AD topology As of now you can associate all the subnets into the default web site Create Subnet , 192.168.22.0/24 - Choose Default Web site , Do the same thing for the other ones 192.168.25.0/24 192.168.26.0/24 192.168.27.0/24 Then Create a new site. nothing will get affected in your environment Add the Associate subnet to the new site , then you can remove it from the Default web siteSatheshwaran Manoharan | Exchange 2003/2007/2010 | Blog:http://www.careexchange.in | Please mark it as an answer if it really helps you

I forgot to mention I also have a VLAN environment (10.11.21.0/24) in which I'd like to separate. Can I do: Create two sites VLAN-IN and CSAA.LOCAL Subnet 10.11.21.0/24 add to site VLAN-In Subnets 192.168.22.0/24, 192.168.25.0/24, 192.168.26.0/24, 192.168.27.0/24 add to CSAA.LOCAL Please assist. 5 DCs in csaa.local and 1 DC in vlan-in.

Add all the Subnet in the Default web site. Create a new site Called Csaa.local Move all the 5 DC's to it Move all the 192's Subnets to the csaa.local quickly Verify Site is Good. You can restated MsExchangeAdtopology Service on your Exchange to verify Exchange is stable and working Good. Also you can check for 2080 Event which will show you the Available DC's Then Create a new site name VLAN-IN move the remaining 1 dc Then move the 10.
