Exchange 2010 DAG transaction logs
Hello, If accidentally I delete transaction logs from one of the DAG database folder, what happens, will it get those deleted logs from the other DAG database, will it matter if the database copy status is mouted or healthy. I tried to delete some transaction logs from one of the databases however they are still at different sizes, one is over 1GB and the other is 900m I tought that the DAG databases would all be the same size.

Thats not an ideal situation. You have probably by now read legion on why manually deleting log files is a terrible idea. If I were you I would remove the replicas and then do a full backup of the databases. Once the logs have shrunken down to a far smaller number you can then recreate the replica and let it reseed. Those are very very small databases, I assume youve just started a migration programme? What you might want to do is to resolve the reason that you thought it necessary to do the deletion. Perhaps you need to take a look at the sizes of the log LUNs. Perhaps you, if indeed you are doing a migration, should do regular backups during the migration to keep the logs to a manageable level. There are other ways of log management available, those mentioned are merely examples. "acmsoft" wrote in message news:f22fbfbb-388a-4d9e-8ff6-3749fb4b9265... Ok Mark I deleted the passive copy which was showing as incorrect size, took backup of the database, made a copy of it on the same server and now the size is only about 15mb different from the active one which is normal right ?

You cant Make a copy of it on the same server. You cant have a second copy of a DAG database on the same server as the active running copy. Please delete the thing you copied out and replicate the copy to the second server as per the instructions in the online help in Exchange. Once youve done that there will be a small difference in size but remember, you should never look at Explorer to look at file sizes because of the way (in terms of when) Explorer updates the time-stamp and size information. Do the replica on the 2nd server and youll be ok. "acmsoft" wrote in message news:afd46eb7-7f5c-4b35-b806-efe5284e2668... Hi, Deleted the transation logs may cause the database corrupted or unhealthy. That is because the transanction logs are still not replayed into the Database. For this issue, you can reseed the database from the Active to the Passive, like use Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy. Thanks Allen Allen Song
