Exchange 2010 Calendar Text Messaging reminders going to Drafts folder?
Many of our users make use of the text messaging reminders in Exchange 2010 to send Calendar reminders to their cell phones. I have one user where, when he sets this up, all of the reminders go into his Drafts folder and never get sent to his cell phone. This is the built-in Exchange functionality set up in OWA not the Outlook 2010 functionality. The initial registration process works fine. In OWA, he put's in the country, carrier and phone number and the registration code is successfully sent to the cell phone. Then when the code is entered back into the registration page the "congradulations" message is also successfully send to the phone. But then when it goes to send an actual reminder that message is placed into the Drafts folder and is never sent. I've checked the mail quota and he at about 10% of his quota so I don't believe that's a factor. I've also done a "Get-TextMessagingAccount" on this mailbox and compared with others that are working and everything seems to be in order. Any ideas on what else to check?

Hi, From your description, you need to check whether there are some outlook rules that affect this situation. To check it, you can disable or clear all Outlook rules and then check the result. Hope it helps. ThanksSophia Xu TechNet Community Support

I've gone through the rules and there are none that is moving the message into the Drafts folder.

Some more steps I've tried to track down this issue. I deleted all of the rules from the mailbox which did not solve the problem. I then deleted the mailbox and created a new one and copying the mail over via a .PST file. The issue still exists so it seems to be an attribute with the AD account? We also got a report of a second user who is experiencing this same behaviour.

After a couple of months we finally found the solution to this problem. In case anyone else runs into this problem here's the answer. It turns out that the accounts that were having the problem did not have "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM" Send-As rights. The initial registration texts were send by the user themselves but the system didn't have any rights to send the reminders on behalf of that user. Adding to those accounts that fixed the issue.
