Exchange 2010 CAS/ActiveSync - MaxNumOfFolders in Web.Config file was not valid

Hi,

This Warning event indicates that the value specified for the Internet Information Services (IIS) setting referenced in the event description is not valid. The value has been changed to the default value. Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync will use the default settings until the next time that the server that is running Microsoft Exchange is restarted.

To make sure that this warning does not occur again, follow these steps to manually change the settings to the default settings:

  1. Start Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

  2. In the console tree, click Web Sites, and then click Default Web Site.

  3. Right-click Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync, and then click Properties.

  4. On the ASP.NET tab, click Edit Configuration.

  5. On the General tab, under Application settings, configure the setting specified in the event description to the default value.

Note   You must restart Internet Information Services (IIS) by using the command iisreset/noforce for these changes to take effect.

Just wondering, why all of a sudden these events start showing up?  I'm assuming that the default's were being used to begin with.

Thanks

This morning, a couple of folks called and they had to re-enter their password to get mail again.  The weird thing is that they all called at the same time.

So, I started looking at the CAS, and I saw a few 1033 event ActiveSync events.

"The setting MaxNumOfFolders in the Web.Config file was not valid. The previous value was null and has been changed to 1000."

This is the first time that I saw this. How should I respond to this?

Thanks

Ron
