Exchange 2010 Archive
In Microsoft Exchange 2010, what is the difference between creating a local archive and a remote hosted arechive? Can you explain what each one is, and (basically) how they work?

Hi, In Exchange 2010, when you open Exchange Management Console->Recipient Configuration->Mailbox->select a mailbox->right click Enable Archive, there will be two options: Create a local archive and Create a remote hosted archive. If you want to create a remote hosted archive, you need to configure the appropriate remote domain as the target delivery domain. And remote hosted archive is related with remote domain. However, you don’t need to do the above things when you create a local archive. The archive mailbox is located in the local domain, and you can archive mailbox on same mailbox database, on another mailbox database or another server. For more information, you can refer to the following articles: Understanding Personal Archives Understanding Remote Domains Hope this helps. Thanks Sophia Xu
