Exchange 2010 - How do you send a notification to senders if email/attachment exceeds receive size limits
Exchange 2010 SP1. We had to lower the email receive size limit. How do I send a notification to the sender from Exchange that the email/attachment is being denied due to exceeding the maximum Receive Size limit? Right now, the sender does not get anything back so they think it was delivered. Thank you. DDaleS

Sender should receive NDR 5.2.3 if message size is above the limit which is something similar to mentioned here... http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232118.aspx What are referring as a sender over here, are those internal or external? If external then you need to check NDR setting of default remote domain over here Org Config -> Hub Transport -> Remote Domains -> Default -> Message Format and see Allow NDRs is selected or not.

Hi Amit, Thanks for the helpful tip. I see where this is would be enabled. Currently "Allow non-delivery reports" is not checked, but "Allow delivery reports" is checked. Before I check this, I want to verify that this NDR only goes to the sender - not to an Exchange NDR box that may not get monitored. Since it says Remote Domain, I take that to mean the NDR is only going to be sent back to the sender if the size limits are exceeded. Is this correct? Thanks much. DDaleS
