Exchange 2010; w2K8R2_ENT; Message Tracking Tool Error
We've recently completed a lot of security/STIG'ing on our systems including IIS and .NET lock downs. Somewhere in that process something broke our ability to launch the Message Tracking Exchange Tools. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!!! Attempting to launch the Message Tracking Tool get the following error: Server Error in '/owa' Application Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Exchange.Diagnostics, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Event Appears in Application Event Log right after launching Message Tracking: Event ID 1309; Source: ASP.NET 2.0.50727.0; Web Event Event Code: 3005; Event Message: An unhandled exception has occurred. Application Path: E:\Exchange2010\ClientAccess\owa Process name: w3wp.exe Exception Type: HTTPException Items checked: Require SSL Unchecked Webconfig points to install location not variable permissions on the folder structure : Exchange2010\<subdirectories> are correct .DLLs listed in webconfig all seem accounted for

Honestly I would suggest reversing each lockdown you performed one at a time and re-testing until you find what you did. It's hard to really recommend anything when the scope of what you did for your lockdown isn't clearly defined.Oliver Moazzezi | Exchange MVP, MCSA:M, MCITP:Exchange 2010, BA (Hons) Anim | http://www.exchange2010.com | http://www.cobweb.com | http://twitter.com/OliverMoazzezi

I think you made changes to your web.config file. if you have a backup of web.config then I strongly recommend you to replace the web.config with your backup. if you dont have then copy it from another machine.

Hi TechBeat, Any update for your issue, as you referred, you have don some operation about IIS and .NET lock downs. It is better to confirm the activiies you did, and change back. Or, it is difficult to analyze what could cause the issue. As we know, when we launch Message Tracking tool, the application would use IE to access ECP mode, and then we could use the message tracking tool. That means the IIS and .NETsecurity configuration would affact the the IE browse the tracking tool application page. Regards!
