Exchange 2010

Hello All.............I have following questionwith respect to Exchange 2010 Mail Flow:

How can we improve the SMTP Transaction Time so that there are no warnings during any checks.  How can we improve the time ?  it is around 10 seconds at the moment.

Hi,

Based on my search, we can use the below command to set the tarpitting interval:

Set-ReceiveConnector <Receive Connector> -TarpitInterval <00:00:00 to 00:10:00>

Please refer to the below link to get more detailed information:

Thanks for the reply.

1. So, running the above command would increase the Delay Time even further to thwart the Directory Harvesting attack. In other words, it would significantly increase the SMTP Transaction Time? Please, correct me if I am wrong?

2.  So, would it be a good idea to increase the delay?  Is this normally helpful?

3.  If we want to improve SMTP Transaction Time, we should not be enabling it at all?  Please, correct me.

4.  If we receive delay in SMTP Transaction Time, is it okay to leave it be and not counter it just to thwart attacks?  Can we ignore the delay in SMTP Transaction Time?

5.  If Tarpitting delays it, what increase transaction time?
