Exchange 2007 with server 2008 R2 DC's
I think this will be a simple answer. Were currently replacing our 2003 R2 DC's with 2008 R2 DC's. We have Exchange 2007 SP2, and I can remember some time ago reading that Exchange 2007 doesn't support 2008 R2 GC servers. Is this still the case, as it was some time ago and we have since gone to Exchange 2007 SP2 so it may have been changed. Or have I dreamt this as I cannot find anything anywhere about it now. Also anything worth knowing before I implement a 2008 R2 DC? I Have done this on another of our domains without an exchange server with no problems.

Seems okay to add a 2008 R2 DC: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/exchangesvrdeploy/thread/FEF887E1-80E5-4D8F-A509-F1017DF5040C Can someone confirm that you can remove all 2003 DC's?

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Looked at the article, doesn't mention R2 as DCs? Also who is talking about SP3?

Basically Exchange 2007 didn't support 2008 R2 DC's or installing on R2 machine. after SP1 Rollup 9 it was supported but SP2 installation still failed if you had only 2008R2 DC's, and so there was fix for that (http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2009/09/15/452494.aspx). And all is working OK (also installing) as of Exchange 2007 SP3 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1687160b-634a-43cb-a65a-f355cff0afa6&displaylang=en) So if you want to upgrade your DC's to 2008R2, and want to be on the safe side, just upgrade your Exchange to SP3 and after that make changes to your domain (it's adviced that you update your Exchange anyway...)Yanir Ben-Nun / System Team Leader / IT / IS Professional
