Exchange 2007 with error event ID: 494, 454 and 9518
Hi, i'm currently trying to recover single mailbox using DPM 2010 but somehow i received the errors below which i believe this is due to Exchange 2007. I would appreciate it if someone could help me here: DPM Error: 1) Database mount failed for Storage group Recovery Storage Group on (ExchangeServer) ID 30143: The parameter is incorrect (0x80070057) Exchange 2007 Error (Event Viewer) 1) MSExchangeIS (5060) Recovery Storage Group: Database recovery failed with error -1216 because it encountered references to a database, D:\Program Files\MicrosoftExchange Server\Mailbox\First Storage Group\RSG20100622092733\(database name) .edb, which is no longer present. The database was not brought to a Clean Shutdown state before it was removed (or possibly moved or renamed). The database engine will not permit recovery to complete for this instance until the missing database is re-instated. If the database is truly no longer required, procedures for recovering from this error are availabale in the blablabla bla blabla. Source:ESE Event ID: 494 2) MSExchangeIS (5060) Recovery Storage Group: Database recovery/restore failed with unexpected error -1216 Source ESE Event ID: 454 3) Error 0xfffffb40 starting Storage Group /DC=DIR/DC=IDFR/CN=Configuration/CN=Services/CN=Microsoft Exchange/............ Storage Group - Initialization of Jet Failed. Source: MSExchangeIS Event ID: 9518 Based on Event ID: 494, it states tht the references to a database is no longer present. Butwhen i checked the path, the database is there. Someone Help :(

Hi, Try to completely remove the RSG and then create a new RSG. It appears that the system doesn´t like the existing RSG. Leif

Hi, Have you read the following official Microsoft document? Database recovery failed because it encountered references to a database which is no longer present: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb217327(EXCHG.80).aspx Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Best regards, Serena

Hi, Generally this problem occurs due to serious damage to Exchange database, which can not be repaired by inbuilt Eseutil utility. In such situation, you opt opt for third party EDB Repair solutions to repair and restore the damaged exchange database file. These Exchange Server Repair tools use advanced scanning algorithms to scan the completed database and retrieve all of its damaged or corrupted objects such as emails, notes, contacts, tasks and so forth.
