Exchange 2007 with 2 domain names
Hi We are using an Exchange 2007 and we have 2 company domain names, @old-domain.com (This is also our internal AD domain name) and @new-domain.com. the exchange server is called Exchange.old-domain.com but our outgoing mail is sent with @new-domain.com. This results in our mail being classified as potential spam/scam sometimes. Is it possible to change it so it looks like the mail is sent from Exchange.new-domain.com? I hope this makes sense, didn't quit know how to explain it properly :-)/Lasse

Lasse, You will need to check the following things: is the external DNS configured correctly: most times a pointer record (PTR) is missing or incorrect, fix this. Besides this create a SPF record (http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/safety/content/technologies/senderid/wizard/) this will make it possible to define a list of authorized servers for your domain very the fqdn configured on the send connector, this should match the external fqdn of the mail server, for example mail.domain.com: Exchange Management Console -> organizational configuration -> hub transport -> send connectors -> get the properties of the connector which is used for sending mail to internet -> check the FQDN Regards, JohanExchange-blog: www.johanveldhuis.nl

Hi Johan, Thanks for your reply. What do you mean by "external DNS"? Our internal DNS server is configured with PTR and it looks correct. We don't have a SPF record for either mail domains. No FQDN is configured on the send connector. Should this be exchange.old-domain.com or exchange.new-domain.com? I haven't seen this problem before so every bit of help is much appriciated./Lasse

Hi Lasse, With DNS I mean the DNS server from your provider where the external DNS is registered. In some cases companies decide to host their own "external dns" in that case make the modifications there. If no fqdn has been configured use the external fqdn of the mailserver as the correct value. So if your mx record points to mail.domain.com enter that one in this field. Regards, Johan Exchange-blog: www.johanveldhuis.nl
