Exchange 2007 unified messaging sever role deployment
Hi, Can I have a unified messaging serverin an active directory site which doesnt have Exchange 2007 Hub Transport or client access or mailbox server roles. But I wanted to link this UM server with a HT server in another site in the same AD. Is this possible. Basically I dont want to have mailbox server roles in my remote site but I needed to have UM server because remote site has IP telephony. Any work around. Thanks

We need a Hub server installed in the same AD site as UM server because: Unified Messaging servers submit voice mail and fax messages to a Hub Transport server by using SMTP. This can occur only if they are deployed in the same Active Directory site We need a CAS server installed in the same AD site as UM server because: Unified Messaging Web services that run on the Client Access server enable full client functionality for UM-enabled users. Additionally, installing and configuring a Client Access server in the same site as the Unified Messaging servers reduces the bandwidth that is required if they are deployed in separate Active Directory sites We dont a need MBX server installed in the same AD site as UM server. Hub server will locate recipients MBX server on the other sites and relay the messages
