Exchange 2007 transaction log location
Looking for a recommendation on transaction log location. Database location is on a SAN. Is it best to locate the transaction logs on the SAN also, albeit on separate physical disks, or would it be best to install a local array and locate the logs there? We do nightly backups which delete the committed logs, so space is not much of an issue. Ted

Per Microsoft, separate the transaction logs(RAID 1) from the DB(RAID 5).

Hi Ted, Yes, please keep transaction log and database file apart, Exchange can recover from a failure in one or the other, but not in both. If you keep them all on the SAN, then consider putting them on their own stores located on separate RAID.
