Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 migration with Exchange 2010 features partially introduced (moderated DL's)
I am aware from reading the other threads that there will not be a migration path for Exchange 2007 until a RU is released in the first quarter of 2013. With that being said, there is a caveat to our migration. An Exchange 2010 server was introduced into the organization but does not contain any mailboxes. We are, however, are using the moderated DL feature for our "all company" DL. What would be the least painful way to migrate from this hybrid 2007/2010 environment to 2013? I am thinking that the DL should have moderationenabled set to $false right before I uninstall the Exchange 2010 boxes and perform the steps to prepare AD for the introduction of Exchange 2013. Is there anything I am missing?

Okay, you're asking about a transition, i.e., an upgrade within the same Exchange organization as opposed to a migration, which means you're coming from Exchange organizaitons or different products, right? My understanding is that there is a direct transition path from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013, but you'll have to wait until the required update for Exchange 2007 is available, and I don't know how long that will be. There's a wait for the service pack or rollup hotfix for Exchange 2010 as well.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

I don't think there will be a problem with all three versions co-existing. But, 2007 will nee a "yet to be released" update rollup and 2010 needs SP3. Once they are released, you should be able to co-exist and move to pure 2013.Rajith Enchiparambil | http://www.howexchangeworks.com |
