Exchange 2007 to 2013 Migration issues. Apps not working

Exchange 2013 Migration issues

Environment:
Mixed 2007 SP3 R12 and 2013 CU3. 2007 Environment was webmail.domain.com. I installed new Exchange 2013 (1 CAS, 1 Mailbox) according to: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff805032(v=exchg.150).aspx. Exchange 2007 is now legacy.domain.com and Exchange 2013 CAS is webmail.domain.com.
Machine 1: Windows 8.1, not domain joined, using Outlook Anywhere external. Outlook 2013
Machine 2: Windows 7, domain joined, using Outlook Anywhere internal. Outlook 2010 SP2

I have migrated 1 user so far to Exchange 2013.

ISSUE

Apps. Installed by default are 4 apps (Bing Maps, Suggested Meetings, Unsubscribe, Action Items). I have made sure the apps are enabled in OWA and they show up in mail items on both Machine 1 (Outlook 2013) and OWA. They do not show up in Machine 2 (Outlook 2010). I'm assuming that isn't supported.
In OWA, when I go to the installed apps listing it shows all of the apps but has a broken link on the image describing the app.
When I click the app in either Outlook 2013 or in OWA, I get "APP ERROR, Sorry we can't load the app. Please make sure you have network and/or internet connectivity. Click "Retry" once you're back online.
Current workaround is just disabling them through OWA.

Hi,

Is there anything problem on the E-mail sending and receiving or something else?

Providing this article for your reference first:

Step-by-Step Exchange 2007 to 2013 Migration

http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2013/07/25/part-1-step-by-step-exchange-2007-to-2013-migration.aspx

I. About "Apps not working in Outlook 2013 and OWA":

Please check our network and/or internet connectivity first, just as the error message said.

Please make sure we have installed the apps successfully. Also suggest re-installing these for testing.

Please make sure our services running well.

II. About "Apps not showing up in Outlook 2010":

Apps for Outlook aren't dependent on the version of Exchange Server. We won't have to worry about breaking or lossing any apps for Outlook that we have added when we upgrade Exchange servers or move to a new Exchange version.

Maybe some AVs cause this issue, please disable them for testing.

I will found more suggestions, any information will be appreciated.

Thanks

Mavis

Did you tried any other app apart from the DefaultOne?
Try disable and enable the App and check the issue.

Gulab,

I have tried the 4 default apps installed. None of them work. I have tried disabling and reenabling them. Didn't work.

To be honest, I'm trying to figure out how to install more from Exchange Admin Center. Shows I can do it from the store, from a URL or from a file. I don't have a URL or file so my only option is from the Store, but from the store there is no way to install it to the server, but to my associated account (which isn't working either).

Figured out how to install a new one from that link Gulab. There wasn't a URL in that link, but it did install for me from the store. The others were failing because they were detected that they were already installed (Bing Maps). It was stating I couldn't install them because they were already installed.

So, new apps are fine, It is the apps that installed when Exchange was installed that I cannot remove that don't work. I would assume if I could remove them and reinstall them that would work but it says "This app is installed by default. It can't be uninstalled."

You can't remove the Default App.
You can chose not use them ;)

Was able to get this out of the cmdlet.... Definitely seeing some issues with linking to internal server names for the ICON URL (which is a valid link however, but it is getting a certificate mismatch and not displaying. Also the links in the XML for SourceLocation and IconDefaultUrl are all wrong and incorrect links. If I could modify them to point to the correct locations I might be getting somewhere. But I'm not seeing any cmdlets that would let me modify the parameters of already installed apps.

I just did my second Exchange 2013 install and it was the exact same result. Assuming this is a Microsoft bug.

I agree, third-party apps work fine but the built-in ones do not. Exch 2013 SP1 on Win Server 2012 R2.

None of the Outlook apps are working for me either both in Outlook 2013 and OWA on Exchange 2013 SP1 (and earlier).  It's not a migration either, a fresh install.  I was wondering if there was some configuration option somewhere that I missed.

Has anybody found a solution for this issue with the not working Apps?

I just noticed this issue today too.  The built in Bing Maps was working a few weeks ago.  I just tried it today and now it gives me "App Error Something went wrong and we couldn't start this app.  Please try again later or contact your system administrator."  It does this on both our production and test environment.

Also, when I try to run "get-app -organizationapp:$true" or view the apps via EAC I get an error stating "Cannot open mailbox /o=Contoso/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=servers/cn=MBX01/cn=Microsoft System Attendant.

I was able to not get an error when I opened EAC with an admin account that had a mailbox on Exchange 2013.

So, I'm still trying to figure things out but this is what I've found so far.

Have you seen this as a fix? I noticed this behavior on my 2010 --> 2013 migration.

This certainly fixed the problem for me. Might be worth a shot if you're still having the issue?

In my case i solved it moving Exchange Administrator Mailbox (E2k7) to E2k13.
