Exchange 2007 servers - Memory Pool - Nonpaged Bytes
Hi,I have new 2007 installation, CCR cluster with 2 NLB CAS/HUB servers. All 4 of them are raising alarms with our monitoring system, with problem:Source: Performance Counters Reason: Memory\Pool Nonpaged BytesThreshold: 230686720 Actual value: 297029632Values vary, but few minutes - half an hour after restart it over default.I checked with drilldown what processess might do this, for MBX server it is store.exe, for CAS/HUB - IIS, but it is rather distributed among many processess. Are those values somehow too high? Servers have a lot of RAM, 32GB mbx, 16GB hubs. No such problems with edge servers.Any input appreciated. Thanks,Chris

That lookslike a value for a 32-bit O/S.---Rich MatheisenMCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Agree with Rich, it does look like a size threshold in a 32bit version of OS platform Is there any error event in the application log on the exchange servers? Please use the Memory Pool Monitor (Poolmon.exe) utility to monitor the usage of kernel nonpaged pool memory (KB 177415) Please run the ExBPA against the exchange servers for health check Resources: Pushing the Limits of Windows: Paged and Nonpaged Pool How to monitor and troubleshoot the use of Nonpaged pool memory in Exchange Server 2003 or in Exchange 2000 Server Identifying 32-bit Kernel Memory IssuesJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

We have an Exchange 2007 CCR with 48GB RAM and we are getting similar warnings from Microsoft's own Performance Troubleshooter as well as Quest Spotlight on Exchange about the Nonpaged pool bytes being over the limit. Spotlight complains about > 230686720 threshold. Exchange Prformance Troubleshooter complains about > 110MB. If these thresholds aren't applicable to 64-bit OS, then what thresholds should we use? I can't find any reference about this on the web. Thanks.
