HiIn site A you must install Mailbox Server, Hub Transport Role and also you can add additional role Client Access Server and Edge Transport Server. In another site you must install Hub Transport role and Mailbox Server Role.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124935(EXCHG.80).aspx

OK, but no problem? Because Site A and Site B will have their own mailbox store. Only Site A has the Internet connection.

hi,the best practice for that is to deploy all 3 roles ( HUB-CAS-MBX ) in each site.

Hi can i ask why you want to install exchange at both sites? is it due to location, DR or not having reliable connectivity?

SiteA is in a city, Site B is in another. The connection is by satelite connection (128K aprox.) SiteA has the Internet connection and normaly SiteB has the mail between them and SiteA to Internet; sometimes SiteB has mail to Internet.

HI when you say siteB sometimes has mail to the internet are you saying its unreliable and dont want to consider it.Ok in that case deploy all three roles at each site and configure your send connector appropriately, make sure that you have correctly defined AD Sites and services as the routing of mail will be using active directory site links.

Hi,You need to install CAS, HUB and Mailbox server on each site. Please understand that the AD site is the boundary in Exchange 2007. Thus, the three roles except for Edge are all necessary in each site.ThanksAllen

Ok then make sure on the site you want mail to route out of you install the edge, again the AD site topology and exchange configuration will route mail to your configured gateway.

How have you defined your physical sites in AD?

Yes of course, but CAS Role don`t necessary for work Exchange 2007. If customer, don`t use OWA, OA. They can use only HUB and Mailbox.

CAS role is necessary for full function with Outlook 2007 or higher clients.-- Ed Crowley MVP"There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems.". Hi,Please understand that Outlook 2007 uses the relevant virtual directory to get the necessary services to work, such as: OAB, OOF and Free/Busy. Thus, the CAS is necessary.ThanksAllen
