Exchange 2007 resource booking visibility to only those who can book it
Hi, I've configured a room as a resource that can only be booked by certain individuals. This works fine and sends an email to the resource delegate to approve or decline the requests (as it is his room!). If a person who doesn't have permissions tries to book the room, then it is automatically declined. This is all fine except what I would really like is to hide the visibility of this room to only those people who are able to book the room. So when a user who does have permissions to book this room goes into the scheduling assistant in outlook and clicks "Add Rooms", it is shown in the list of available rooms, but if a user who does not have permissions does the same thing it is not displayed. Is there any way of doing this? We are currently running Exchange Server 2007 SP1 and Outlook 2007. Many thanks

Hi Pete, Permission based visibility segmentation is not possible. You can hide the room mailbox but that will be hidden to all users in your environment. As they are not able to book the room you are safe from unwanted bookings.

Hi Amit, Many thanks for your response, I had a feeling that might be the case. Maybe something to consider for SP2? ;-) I did try hiding it from the address book, but I was then unable to manually add it as a resource when booking a meeting. I don't suppose there is a way of doing this? Cheers, Pete.

I have doubt about the inclusion in SP2, we may see in next version of Exchange Yep, if you hide in GAL then it will be hidden to all and can not be booked and that is not the way of booking...
