Exchange 2007 on Server 2008 R2 - 403 errors on default web site

This is a fresh/clean installation of both Server 2008 R2 and Exchange 2007 SP3, about as vanilla as it can get.

On the default web site (the one that shows the IIS7 logo screen) and in fact any directory under that one, after installing Exchange the root site and all the sub-directories all 'fail' with 403 "Forbidden" errors whereas they were all working fine prior to installing Exchange.

Other root sites on the same IIS server still work fine. It's just the 'default' site (the one where the Exchange installation added all of its stuff, where the CA lives, etc) that is having the problem.'

What's up with this?

Thanks.

Hi,

Check Binding for port 443 in your IIS. The hostname should be empty there

Hi,

Have you made any changes on the IIS settings?

Please enable the IIS log and reproduce the issue. Then post the detailed error code and message for further troubleshooting.

[Collect the IIS log]

==============

1. One the Exchange Client Access Server, locate the folder c:\inetpub\logs\logfiles\W3SVC1 (If the IIS log is not enabled, please enable it and try to reproduce this issue.)

2. Check the log files inside the folder and post the related error codes like 403.x.

Thanks,
