Exchange 2007 not in AD
Hi All I have a new installation of exchange 2007 on a new 2003 server. I created a new domain etc and followed all the doc I could find to get exchange installed properly. I however do not see any exchange tabs in my AD when I view a users profile. The management tools are installed and if I creat a new user in exchange it populates the AD but I cannot manage exchange from the AD. Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. Gambi

Hi, This is by design. Exchange 2007 no longer adds tabs to the aduc. All exchange management is performed from the exchange management console or shell. Leif

Hi Leif Thanks for the reply, I kind of think this is quite backward because it means that I can no longer create mailboxes from AD. I am sure there is a logical reason that Exchange was made like that and I will find it out later (probably security or something). Thanks for the reply again. Gambi

Hi, You can create user accounts from Eschange Management Console instead. One big advantage of this is that the recipient update service has been pulled out of business. Now when you mailbox enable a user the Exchange management tools makes sure that an email address is stamped at the user account at once - no delay because of AD replication issues and RUS issues.
