Exchange 2007 migration from exchange 2003
As of right now I have 2 mail servers. One is my main mail server exchange 2003 server which is on SP2. The other is Blackberry server I have nother server which is a brand new server that I would like to install exchange 2007 on but I'm running into this issue and its driving myself and others crazy. When i go to install exchange 2007, it goes through all the checks and downloads all the necessary files it needs before it can install. Well I can't even get to the installation portion because my installation constantly hangs on this area... Summary: 4 item(s). 3 succeeded, 1 failed. Elapsed time: 00:00:18 Organization Prerequisites Failed Error: One or more servers in the existing organization is running Exchange Server 2003 without Service Pack 2 (or later). Installation cannot proceed until existing Exchange Server 2003 computers are upgraded to Service Pack 2. Warning: The Active Directory schema will be upgraded if you continue. Verify that the organization is ready for Exchange 2007 by running the Exchange 2007 Readiness Check, which is part of the Exchange Best Practices Analyzer. Elapsed Time: 00:00:12 Now I know that its asking for all exchange 2003 servers to be on service pack 2. Which they are... Kinda. In system manager > administrative groups > first administrative groups, my main exchange 2003 server reports back saying that its on Version 6.5 (Build 7638.2: service pack 2). I also checked the registery of this server to confirm the build and to make sure its on service pack 2. Now, for my Blackberry server, the server version is reporting back with Version 6.5 (Build 6944.4) with no service pack. I have reinstall service pack 2 on my unity server multiple times with multiple restarts etc etc.

Hi, Go to ADSI Edit and look for the container that holds the exchange server's information which is not hard to find, brows through the integer info and compare the service pack, build, and server version to the registery of the call unity server. Make some changes to the values of the call unity server in ADSI, run the install on Exchange 2k7 and you will good to go. I'm assuming Exchange 2k7 looks through ADSI to see if the exchange server's are compliant with the correct service packs in order to go ahead with the install. I hope this will help you. Regards. Hi, First check these thing because According to Microsoft http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb288907(EXCHG.80).aspx The Following commands to be completed before installing the first Exchange 2007 server. 1. Setup /PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions 2. Setup /PrepareSchema 3. setup /PrepareAD 4. Setup /PrepareDomain I am thinking that you skip to run Setup /PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions I hope this will help you. Regards. Shafaquat Ali. If the version information isn't updating correctly, then I would suggest remove and reinstall. Stop and disable all Blackberry services and reboot. Then remove the Exchange management tools and reboot. Reinstall the management tools and then the service pack. Change the services for Blackberry back to automatic/manual as appropriate. Do not start them. Reboot the server. You should then be able to complete the installation correctly, without hacking around with ADSIEDIT. Another option would be to remove ESM completely and replace it with the MAPICDO component for Exchange 2007/2010 support. You will need to do that anyway to move the BESADMIN account to Exchange 2007, so you may as well do it now. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP. http://blog.sembee.co.uk , http://exbpa.com/
