Exchange 2007 management console will not open
Hi, Installed exch2007sp1 from media (not service pack) on to W2k3x64bit standard edition in a single exchange server domain last week. Exchange is working fine. We have the 32bit management tools on our 2003x32bit domain controller also working fine. The management console on the Exchange server was working fantastic until i logged off the server at about 4pm one day in the week (console locked until that point). Didn't get any errors, but next day logged back in and tried to run the management console and get the following error: "MMC cannot open the file E:\Exchsvr\Bin\Exchange Management Console.msc. This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by later version of MMC. This may also be because you do not have sufficient access rights to the file."Anyone ever seen that? i think it might be a generic MMC error. The thing is i don't think ive done anything on that server to upgrade or damage the MMC. It just seems to have stopped working randomly. I found a Microsoft KB doc that seems to imply the user profile may be corrupt. However this is on the Administrator profile. I don't have that doc to hand at the moment, it gave a step to follow for the Administrator profile but it didn't work. Is it possible to remove and reinstall the management tools role? im still fairly new to exch2007 so not sure how to go about doing this. Cheers

Hi, You can run "Eventvwr" from a command prompt and then check whether any error event logged in Application logs or system logs, error information may help you to troubleshoot this issue. You can post the detail information here. But first, please make sure that your account has have sufficient access rights to the Console. Also if the mmc 3.0 has corrupt, then you can reinstall it. MMC 3.0 update is available for Windows Server 2003 and for Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907265 Thanks.
