Exchange 2007 goes down every day or so
Since we upgraded our Exchange server to 2007, the e-mail stops responding and then comes back again after a few minutes. It doesn't happen on a consistent basis. The Exchange server is running on a new Windows 2008 installation.I've heard that one of the causes might be because we only have one AD running. Do I need 2 AD's to be running at the same time?Desperate to know what is going on.Thanks.

Define "email stops responding". What exactly happens? As for only having one AD running, I suppose you mean that you only have one Active Directory domain controller. Whilst this is functionally acceptable, you ideally need two for fault tolerance.

We do have 2 ADs but the other one is running on another location thru a vpn which is slow. The outlook clients hang for minutes until the server reconnects again. I don't have the error logs with me but my assistant told me that they are not consistent. We had the second AD go down on Wednesday. The e-mail went down sometime on Thursday and never came back.We had installed Roll up 5 last week to see if that would fix the problem, but it didn't.

Hi, Would you please describe the issue more detailed? What does the email stops responding means? If you receive NDR message when sending message, please post the NDR message here. If the message stuck on Exchange Server, please use Queue Viewer to check where the message stuck and what the last error is. Mike
