Exchange 2007 email alert question
Hello- I have a fax server that has an in-built connector server for Exchange 2007. Last week, our email server rebooted and in turn caused the fax server to hang (no user was able to send/receive faxes). I have MOM 2005 deployed in the environment and want to setup an alert when the fax server's connector service for Exchange 2007 goes down. Will the email alert sit in queue waiting for Exchange to be up and then send the email to designated recipients? Thanks in advance.

Hi, YOu should install Exchange managment pack and enable monitoring of Exchange connectors.MOM/SCOM is very much compatable with exchage and you can use rela time monitoring. Please have look of below article in detail. Monitoring Exchange Server 2007 using MOM 2005 (Part 1):: http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/monitoring-operations/monitoring-exchange-server-2007-mom-2005-part1.html Also you should post same question in SCOM forum. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/systemcenteroperationsmanagerAnil MCC 2011,ITIL V3,MCSA 2003,MCTS 2010, My Blog : http://messagingschool.wordpress.com

@Anil The article is helpful but my question is whether MOM will queue the alert and relay to Exchange when Exchange is up or will Exchange queue the alert and deliever after it's online?

The article is helpful but my question is whether MOM will queue the alert and relay to Exchange when Exchange is up or will Exchange queue the alert and deliever after it's online? Hi nfts, As I know, after you set up an alert to monitor connector service, if the Exchange is unavailable(reboot), there will be an event shown on the MOM to address there is an connection issue to SMTP server, and the alert won't be created. I also suggest you seek the solution in the SCOM/MOM forum. Frank Wang Forum Support Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help.
