I just migrated to Exchange 2007 and I would like to setup new email address policy. We use about 25 domain names on our network. Currently when I create a new user, it automatically gets the recipient policy and it applies to the new user so the user ends up with 25 email addresses. I would like the user to only be assigned 1 email address and we can manually put in whatever email address we want. I also do not want to affect any of the existing user accounts, just when we create a new account.

So, you have 25 different E-mail addresses in the Default Policy, and then the new mailbox will apply multiple addresses, right? You just need to remove the extra addresses from the Properties of the Default Policy, and leave only one you required, that will do. And, since the E-mail address policy will only apply during the creation of the mailbox, you dont need to worry those existing mailboxes, unless you manually apply the policy again. If you really worry about that, we can uncheck the Automatically update e-mail addresses based on email address policy for the existing mailboxes in advanced Get-Mailbox | Set-Mailbox -EmailAddressPolicyEnabled:$false If you prefer to use GUI, ADModify would be a good option

I can't edit the default policy, it gives me an error message, something about it being created in Exchange 2003. I tried creating a new policy but it started affecting existing users so I had to remove it right away. From posting in other forums, I found out that:I can either uncheck it manually when creating a new mailbox thru the GUI or I can have it unchecked during creation if I use the command line. It doesn't sound like there's a policy i can create that will automatically uncheck that box for a new user. Also, any policy I would create will affect all existing users as well as new users. ---------------------------------------------------------------I think what I'm going to do is to uncheck that box for all users, thencreate a new policy that will have only 1 email address.
