Exchange 2007 database recovery.
Hi All, I have a exchange 2007 and last week data base was failed to mount because of disk failure. To start with I added a new disk and created a new database with same name. I found that all mailboxes got created automatically. I did not understand how it happened. Can any one tell me the reason or exchange 2007 has got a new feature.Abhishek

it normal ......Do you have the backup of the databse before disk failure...you need to restore it using RSG and merge the mail box from RSG to live database...I can tell you the procedure.....Before that let me know how you use to take database backup...

Well, when disk was failed and you added new one, after that when you try to mount the DB with the same name Exchange doesn't find the mailbox database file so it will ask/warn you to mount a blank database so when you press yes, it will create a new blank database with all mailboxes on it (but no data, since it is blank). Now, You need to restore the database from the backup from RSG. Swap the current blank mounted DB and the restored database. Once swapped, merge the data from RSG to main database. Step by step procedure is explained in below article... Skip first 2 steps in the procedure because which you would have already done...
