Exchange 2007 configuration
Hi all, We're still using our Exchange 2003 server but already install Exchange 2007 on a new server and Outlook 2007 can connect to it with no problem. The issue is, we're having problem with 3rd party software to send email and also our blackberry and/or iPhone can't connect to the new machine. We have an asset management program that connects to the current exchange 2003 via SMTP to send email to helpdesk. When I change the server to the new exchange 2007, it won't send any email no matter what I do. I'm sure if we use the new server on our fax machine, it won't email anymore fax to us. I can't compare the configuration between 2003 and 2007 since the management console shows a different layout. e.g. there's no SMTP/IMAP/etc on the new exchange 2007. Basically my question is this: How to properly configure Exchange 2007 so 3rd party programs, fax machines, mobile devices, etc can connect to it? Or maybe a good link for Exchange 2007 tutorial or something? Ap

I think you need to open the relay for the all the deviced and third party applications that you have , so that exchange can take there emails and can relay it out side.http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/networking/?p=373As far as Mobile phone goes you need to configure the active sync or in case of windows mobile (configure the Outlook). http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124396.aspxRaj

Thanks Raj, That's exactly what I thought. I've read your link from techrepublic above but haven't implement it yet. The thing is, when I open up the Hub Transport , there's already 2 connectors created: Client and Default. Don't worry about the Client part of it since it has a strange (I think we don't use it) port number assigned to it. For Default , it's been configured to serve port 25 as: Authentication TLS Basic Exchange Integrated Windows Permission Groups Exchange users Exchange servers Legacy Exchange Servers What I want to achieve is for our asset management program to be able to send email to helpdesk. On its email server settings, I configured it to conenct to the new exchange 2007 server, SMTP (25), and provide username+password. But it's not working. Now, on the techrepublic article you provide, there's a setting called External Secured . Is that necessary? NB: I've created a new connector anyway and configured it as the link says but it broke our mail delivery ....

Hi Allen, Thanks and sorry for the late reply. I've created a new connector as per instruction from the link you provided using option 1. It works, but I still need to input username/password for authentication. Now, I have a question. I already have the Default connector (port 25, serve all IP addresses), will it be conflicted with the one I just created? (since the server I added to the new connector lies within 0.0.0.0-255.255.255.255 range)
