Exchange 2007 cannot mount public folder after server crash
Hi, I cannot currently mount our public folder database (although I can out mailbox database). I have enabled the copy status, however this then goes to "failed" after I attempt to mount the database. When mounting the database, I receive the error: -------------------------------------------------------- Microsoft Exchange Error -------------------------------------------------------- Failed to mount database 'Public Folder Database'. Public Folder Database Failed Error: Exchange is unable to mount the database that you specified. Specified database: RESURRECTION\Second Storage Group\Public Folder Database; Error code: MapiExceptionNotFound: Unable to mount database. (hr=0x8004010f, ec=-2147221233) . -------------------------------------------------------- OK -------------------------------------------------------- In my event view I get the following: Event 9519: Error 0x8004010f starting database "Second Storage Group\Public Folder Database" on the Microsoft Exchange Information Store. Event 9518: Error 0x8004010f starting Storage Group /DC=local/DC=prestige/CN=Configuration/CN=Services/CN=Microsoft Exchange/CN=First Organization/CN=Administrative Groups/CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/CN=Servers/CN=RESURRECTION/CN=InformationStore/CN=Second Storage Group on the Microsoft Exchange Information Store. MDB failed to start. I have gone through about 20 different forum posts and articles on this, I've altered permissions, moved the database to a new location, removed transaction logs and so forth (backed up before doing so) but I cannot seem to get to the core of the issue. Anyone got any more suggestions?http://www.prestigecarservicing.com

Hi Nick, First you need to check whether PF databse is in healthy state or not for this you can use cmdlet "eseutil /mh". If DB is not in healthy state then see output of eseutil /mh which will show you is any required log files need to replay in DB, for this you have to use eseutil /R /E00 (Base file). Please have a look of below article in detail. Getting an Exchange Database into a Clean Shutdown State using Eseutil: http://www.mikepfeiffer.net/2010/04/getting-an-exchange-database-into-a-clean-shutdown-state-using-eseutil/ Anil

Thanks for the reply. The database seems to have been shutdown correctly, however a couple of errors are shown... Hi Nick, What is EDB and LOG file path for Mailbox DB and Public folder DB. Are you sharing same drive for both DB ?. If yes please move LOG and EDB path to other drive and munt it. If these are noth the case then use powershell to mount DB instaed EMC, alos have a reboot of server if you can manage down time.Anil

Hi, They were on the same drive (and have been for some time) but to be sure I have moved them to different locations. Mounting via the powershell gives the same error sadly. [PS] C:\Windows\System32>Mount-Database -id "Public Folder Database" Mount-Database : Exchange is unable to mount the database that you specified. S pecified database: RESURRECTION.prestige.local\Public Folder Database; Error co de: MapiExceptionNotFound: Unable to mount database. (hr=0x8004010f, ec=-214722 1233) . At line:1 char:15 + Mount-Database <<<< -id "Public Folder Database" It is possible it could be a permissions issue, however I have checked those using my limited knowledge of ADSI Edit. The size of the file is just under 1GB, could this have an effect? I have ensured the quota is set to 2GB.http://www.prestigecarservicing.com

Using ADSIEdit.msc disocover that "Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object" should be checked for the Public Folder under the path CN=Configuration, CN=Services,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=ServerName,CN=Administrative Groups,CN=first administrative group,CN=Folder Hierarchies,CN=Public Folders

It seems to ne giving me an "access denied or file in use" error, tried stopping the Information Store service, that didn't help. Will turn of UAC and reboot server tonight to see if either of those help.http://www.prestigecarservicing.com
