Exchange 2007 as a MX backup.
We have an exchange 07 front end that hosts multiple domain's email for our clients.
We have a client that we want to utilize this server as a MX backup. So that if their server is down, it will route mail to the backup server and is then uploaded back.
I know how to do it very well in EX03, but I cannot seem to get any docs for configuring it for EX07.
We have MX record in place, and I need to a walk through of how it goes...please.
The client's server is on the internet and not local to our domain.
Also, we are not utilizing other server/SMTP technologies, as we need this setup as such.

If I understand what you wish to accomplish, you can do the following:
1 -Create an accepted domain at the Org -> Hub and configure it as a external relay with the domain name
2--Create a send connector with the corresponding domain name and use a smart host with the IP of the remote SMTP.
This will allow Exchange to receive mail for the specified domain and put it in a send Queue towards the remote IP address of the other SMTP server.
Dont forget that MX weights are not necessarily respected and that your server may be acting as receiving smtp for the domain even if the primary server is up. Not an issue but just need to take this into consideration in regards of the additional
trafic you might receive

Thanks makes sense. I am not used to the layout of EX07...
Could you do a brief step by step on step 2?
Like examples? I am visual.
ex. Go to ---> New Send Connector ---> Name : Test ----> Custom, Internet, Internal....yadda yadda
and what I would need?
