Exchange 2007 and Sharepoint issues
Does share point need to be installed for Exchange to send and receive email? I recently uninstalled sharepoint services as they were throwing up errors but since uninstalling MS Exchange has stopped sending and receiving any emails at all. Thanks in advance. Reece

Reece Hi, Do you have separate mx of your sharepoint if not it means you were using exchange to receive/send mails. now it is not working because exchange is unavailable. Thanks Amit Rawat

Hello RSYR, It is not necessary that to Installed Sharepoint for Exchange. Exchange works independly to send & receive mails. It is Sharepoint which depend on Exchange if they wants to relay mails from Exchange server. On exchange 2007 you have to create a proper Send & Receive Connector On HUB server to send & receive mails. EXCHANGE2010, MCSE, MCTS, MCSA MESSAGING, CCNA & GNIIT

Hi Reece, Yes, Exchange can work independently of Sharepoint. What's your exchange version? Are Sharepoint and Exchange installed on the same server? Have you tried sending and receiving emails by using OWA and Outlook? What's the result? Have you checked the event logs in the Application section? Could you import the log and upload it for skydrive? Please first make sure that IIS is running on your exchange server. Then verify the following service is started: Simple message transport service or Msexchange trasport (for exchange 2007)
