Exchange 2007 access from non-trusted forest
I inherited a small city network that had three non-trusted forests, each created and managed by novices. Until now the city has been using POP3 email hosted by an ISP. This, of course, does not comply with current mandates or needs so I upgraded our City Hall to SBS 2008 and deployed the included Exchange 2007 which is working great for those in the installed forest. I am going to merge one of the other forests into the City Hall domain as there is no reason to do otherwise, but due to the security mandates of the Police Department I need to figure a way for them to provide Exchange services to them. What is the most efficient way to accomplish this task? Is it necessary to establish a one way trust? The issue, as I see it, is authentication. In the interim I have created accounts for some key administrators on the City Hall Domain and they can get access via OWA, but that is not really a viable solution and they would like to use Outlook. I did see one article referring to AD prep. Is this pertinent in the two forest scenario? Any help will be welcome. Thanks is advance!Stan Anderton

I am looking into it to see if it will suit all of our needs. It is not the way I would prefer, but it may be an option. Thank you for the quick response, and the link. Stan Anderton
