Exchange 2007 Transport Rules are merging. What am I missing...

Wanting to add to the Subject line on certain emails coming in from outside.

Running Exchange 2k7 sp1

Setup rule under Org Conf / Hub Transport

First steps > Created email enabled Dist Group (ABC) with say an email of abc@company.com then put myself as member (John Smith)

Went over to Transport rules (MS Exchange/Org Config/Hub Transport) and setup a new transport rule using option > "When sent to member of Dist Group" I Chose the "ABC" Dist group I just set up (all good) ...

then I chose next and the option "Prepend the subject line with string" and added the word  "ABC" ... again all good

Tested from outside and all went well.. (Sent email from my outside email account to the internal Dist Group email account (abc@company.com) .. When the email came in it was "Prepended" with the word ABC in front of the subject line. (looked like this> Subject: ABC plus (Whatever the end user types for their subject line)

Now setup up second one (New dist group (ABC2) with abc2@company.com email address. but same member (john smith)

Now new Transport rule following the same things as above but using the new dist group (ABC2) with me (John Smith) added in that new dist group (ABC2) with a different "prepend" (TEST) to the subject line.

Now this is where the issue comes in .. when I send an outside email to either one they "prepend" both items from both rules into the subject line.... They look like> Subject: ABC TEST (then whatever subject was type in by external user)

OK now I just received an email from the outside that had nothing to do with any dist group rule and it prepended both Subject Rules .. I got an email from a friend .. that email come in with both ABC TEST in front of subject line... Exchange should have looked at the rule and said ... didn't come in to abc@ or abc2@ email address so the rules are null and just send in the email to me. Instead it added te perpend to any email that came to my name....

Seems like it is going off user and not looking at Dist Group first ...or none at all... Does priority under the hub transport rules have anything to do with it?

And if that's what's happening to you, in Rule 2 you could enter an exception to skip processing if it was sent to a member of ABC.

Now if you send the email to dist group "email" address it does put ABC in front of subject but then any email sent to my personal email address is also gets ABC added. Shouldn't it look at Dist list email address and not user.

Problem is this .. we get a lot of mail for one user but many different locations email user . I was looking for a way to for mail coming in to say Company 1 >> does forklifts,, Company 2 >> does dozers..etc.. then they would be able to quickly tell what email is for what location for sorting... Without opening the email since I know Company 1 is dealing with forklifts ..... So I set up the dist group with email enabled and just added the user as member... As you see the transport rule allows me to choose member of and also user if I wanted .. this is why I choose a dist group so it would look a the email address coming in and not care who the users were at that point.  then add the "prepend" to those emails only, and I wouldn't have to create separate emails for each location .. again from your reply above "I'm not sending "directly" to the users just to the Dist Group email address. This way if sally leaves company all I have to do is go into dist group and replace her with Suzi .. no rules to change.. making any sense?

Hey outside world .. if you want to talk forklifts send email to Company1@company.com >> rule should go hey I see this came in for company1@ .. I need to prepend Forklifts the this email and then send it on to the people in the dist group. (Transport Rule should flag)

Hey outside world I want to talk to just user@company.com ... Email comes in and somehow transport rule says hey this user is in this distribution group transport rule  so I need to prepend Company1 to her email.. I guess it never takes into consideration the Dist Group email? (To me transport rule should stop at first step since it did not come in for Company1 Dist group)

Sorry couldn't post pic but it does look just like yours above..

Just as the rule says, if the message is sent to a member of the ABC group the message the rule fires.  The wording is very clear.  It does not "Sent to the group ABC" it says "Sent to a member of ABC".
