Exchange 2007 Standard to Enterprise upgrade...
Folks,I didn't read the CD that I used to install Exchange 2007, I ended up installing and configuring Exchange 2007 Standard instead of Enterprise (what I purchased/meant to install)Is there an easy way to "upgrade" the version without uninstalling and starting over? Thanks for your help, smooter

You just need to enter the Enterprise Product key, and it will be switched. No need to reinstall. You just need to restart the Information Store service afterwards. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232170.aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997621.aspx

I dont see the Enter Product Key under actions .... Can I delete a regiser key? Start the Exchange Management Console. In the console tree, expand Server Configuration. In the result pane, select the server that you want to license. In the action pane, under the server name, click Enter Product Key. The Enter Product Key wizard appears. On the Enter Product Key page, type the product key for the Exchange server, and then click Enter.

Is it the same procedure the other way around. We want to reduce licensing costs by using exchange 2007 standard instead of exchange 2007 enterprice.

Problem solved! Use the Exchange Management Shell to enter the product key 1. Run the following command: Set-ExchangeServer -Identity ExServer01 -ProductKey aaaaa-aaaaa-aaaaa-aaaaa-aaaaa Each aaaaa represents five alphanumeric characters of the product key. 2. If the server being licensed has the Mailbox role installed, restart the Information Store to apply the change by performing the following steps: On a stand-alone server, open a Command Prompt window and run the following commands: net stop msexchangeis net start msexchangeis

You can put a new key in. IIRC you need to restart the IS though so remember to failover the stores to the other server before you do it otherwise you would have a store outage.
