I noticed in the release notes for Exchange 2007 SP3 that you first need to prep your forest/domains. My question is do you still have to run the command to prep your environment for legacy exchange permissions? Or do you just need to use the /PrepareAD command?

Depends on what you already have installed...do you already have Exchange 2007 servers in your environement? If so, then no. The legacy prep is a one time thing when you first introduce Exch 2007 in a 2000/2003 organization. If this is a fresh install, then no. Again the legacy prep is just there to work with 2000/2003 organizations. If you do need it, then the setup will do it for you. The /prepareschema command includes the /preparelegacypermissions and the /prepareAD contains the previous two. We have the Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007 SP1. So is it just necessary to run /prepareschema and /prepdomain, right? Another question... May I run these commands from Exchange 2007 server or is it necessary to run from a DC server? Tks Martins

Wouldn't it make more sense to run the /PrepareAD command from the schema master since its changing the schema? Or as long as you're an Enterprise admin it does matter where you run that command from?
