Exchange 2007 SP3 --- Public folders Wont Recieve Mail
We are currently running Exchange 2007 SP3. We recently added a few Public folders that needed to be mail enabled. The folders create without issue and are set to mail enabled. Anonymous and Default both have contributor permissions. We can copy mail into the folders without issue but the folders will not receive mail. We have attempted both internal and external sends to the address assigned to the Folder. We also have ensured the address is simplistic in name such as example@example.com. There are no errors returned to the sender and the address shows in the global address book. I can see the mail hit the exchange server and appears to go to the correct location but never shows in the public folder.

Assuming you have proper rights can you increase diagnostics logging for public folder.. Also assuming no replication issues,

When I try and do update Content on the folder I get the following error. Thinking this may be the root of my issue but not sure how to proceed. -------------------------------------------------------- Microsoft Exchange Error -------------------------------------------------------- Action 'Update Content' could not be performed on object 'test2'. test2 Failed Error: Cannot start content replication against public folder '\test2' on public folder database 'MYSERVER\First Storage Group\COMPANYMain'. Unfortunately I have not migrated. I have noticed there seems to be a wealth of knowledge in regards to this issue relating to migration.

Hi Fletcher Med, Per your log, it seems that the public folder database hierarchies missing, ans cause the public folder has no proper homeMDB. You could check it as below: using ADSIedit. 1. Select Configuration-Configuration-Services-Microsoft Exchange-Orgname-Administrative Groups-Exchange Administrative Group. confirm that whether there 'Folder Hierarchies' folder. 2. If there is no please do as below: (1). Right click on Exchange Administrative Group (2). Select New Object (3). Select msExchPublicFolderTreeContainer for the class and click Next (4). Enter the following for the value: Folder Hierarchies, click Next (5). Click Finish. 3. Check msExchPFOwningTree attribute on the storage group (public folder database), confirm what the public folder store is associated to the Public Folder tree (such as CN=Public folders ...), then confirm that whether there is a public folders container under the cn=microsoft exchange container, 4. If there is a CN=Public folders container, please move it to the folder hierarchies foler Before you do above , I would suggest that you could carefully operate and could recover it as legacy configuration. Gavin, Thank you very much. Your solution now allows mail to pass correctly to the folder. However when I run update content on the folder I still get the above error. Overall Im completely satisfied with the answer Im just concerned in the back of my mind this error will cause an issue later.

Hi Fletcher Med, If you still get some other error, I would suggest that you could open an new thread, and post some event log/more information regarding to it. And more people would get in. We could do more research about it. hope you could check wheter there are any other replicas on the other server. Regards! Gavin
