If you using the whole new function Exchange Volume Snapshot Backup introducing in Exchange 2007 sp2? You cannot using full backup to backup databases, this new feature just enable Windows Server Backup to back up Exchange databases through VSS, before sp2, VSS backup need 3rd software support. Another question is you try to backup on the active node, it is not support, you need apply to passive node. I suggest you refer to those link and get more information about the new feature. Hi There,Yes, I'm using the new function in sp2 . and Yes, I'm trying to backup the active node.I think I saw in the documents that it only works on the active node and not the passive.I'll try on the passive node.Look here for the line it says that it only work on the active copyThe plug-in supports only full backups of the active copy (if you are using continuous replication). http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2009/05/13/451311.aspxThanks

The chill, youngwind from China is wrong, and you are right (but it is also easy to get confused):The plug-in supports only full backups of the active copy (if you are using continuous replication). http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2009/05/13/451311.aspx The plug-in does not support the Exchange Replica VSS Writer that is part of the Replication service. As a result, you cannot use Windows Server Backup to backup passive copies of storage groups.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee221172.aspx Jon-Alfred Smith MCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M

Nothing to worry about Chill. Keep going. At least I do make lots of errors (sic!). To Shimon1, perhaps these two articles could point you into some direction:Uncovering the new Exchange 2007 SP2 Volume Snapshot (VSS) Plug-in (Part 1)http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/high-availability-recovery/uncovering-new-exchange-2007-sp2-volume-snapshot-vss-plug-in-part1.html Uncovering the new Exchange 2007 SP2 Volume Snapshot (VSS) Plug-in (Part 2)http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/high-availability-recovery/uncovering-new-exchange-2007-sp2-volume-snapshot-vss-plug-in-part2.htmlBTW, a known fact is that the VSS backup does not work with LCR or SCR on SBS 2008. Perhaps you run into some of the same problems with CCR (but this is just speculation). Basically the VSS backup introduced with Exchange 2007 SP2 has been around for a year with Small Business Server 2008. SBS 2008 Will Not Perform an Online Backup of Exchange if LCR or SCR is Enabled http://blogs.technet.com/sbs/archive/2009/02/23/sbs-2008-will-not-perform-an-online-backup-of-exchange-if-lcr-or-scr-is-enabled.aspx Jon-Alfred Smith MCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M
