Hi I'm installing Ex2007 SP1 on brand new machines (quadcore with 4Gb RAM). I have a single domain, 2 DC, 1 Ex2007 HT+CA, 2 Ex2007 MB cluster. All machines are x64 with w2003R2 SP2, NetFx20 SP1. When installing the first exchange server (HT+CA, or just HT, or just CA, I tried all), all tests are ok but setup hangs at "configuring performance counters" step. Checking the setup log I can see it's taking about 6 hours to configure each performance counters set and it finalizes each section with "system out of memory" error. After the install begins, if I go to control panel-performance and I try to configure any counter, the perfmon tool also hangs. I uninstalled everything, rebuilt the perf counters, but the problem maintains. Did anybody had this problem or has a clue how to solve it? Thanks

Hi, Is there any otherapplication running on this machine? Please check whether any error event logged in the application log or system log frrom event viewer(run eventvwr from a command prompt to start the event viewer.)You may post the detail information here for further troublshooting.Meanwhile,please post the setup log here,too. Hi Xiu Zhang Thanks for your reply. The OS installed is W2003 R2 x64 standard. Machine is HP DL 360, 6GB Ram, 2 Quad core CPU. No other apps are running, machine is freshly installed. I can't see any related errors in the event viewer. Hi, I managed to solve my problem by taking the following steps: - removed 1 cpu (it had 2 quad core) - removed memory (left 2Gb only) - removed additional adapters like Fibrechannel (I suspect this one) - booted the machine as clean as possible andreinstalled machine with w2003r2 (maybe it wouldn't be necessary but I did it anyway) - installed netfx 2.0 sp1 instead of netfx 3 (I also suspect this one) after this, exchange installed like a charm What' I'd do in this case would be -remove server role if possible - remove and reinstallnetfx 2.0 sp1 - remove unnecessary HW - reboot and try to reinstall role good luck

Hey Xiu, i have some new Information When whe start Perfmon and want to add a PerformanceCounter... then the Perfmon will catch Memory and will froze! Hi All, so now we have a Solution First we have downgrade the System with 2xDualCore CPUs >> Same Error by "Configuring Performance Counter" So it would not be a Problem by the Quad CPUs. After that we have found a DLL Named "HPPerfProv.dll". This schould be a DLL File which is loaded by Windows Perfmon.... Renemae the DLL in "HPPerfProv.dll.old" Reboot the System and all works fine!

Disabling (renaming) the HP SAN Multipathing DLL HPPerfProv.dll as above got us out of a tight spot - thanks Bang tidy

how did you decide this specific dll was the issue? did this appear in logs or just trial and error?

any thoughts on which step specifically fixed the issue? when you change that many things it seems hard to pinpoint which actually made a difference?
