Exchange 2007 Relay with Authentication
Hello, We have Customer Care sofwtare hosted by another company. we want to be able to utilize this software to send out mass emails to the customers. In order to do this, they would like us to open up our Exchange and use it as a relay (they would create and pipe the emails through our Exchange 2007 box). I have tried to set this up by creating an additional connector and specifying their IP address, but they also require authentication. I cannot fiure out how to get this scenario to work with their IP addrss and authentication. Seems pretty simple. Any help would be appreciated. TIA. Roger

Bad bad idea. Exchange is a very poor bulk emailing system. It will flood your link completely and you will get blacklisted (it is just a matter of when). It also cannot cope with bounces and rejects and generally causes a mess. If you want to do bulk emailing then you need to use a service that can manage it for you. Ask the software company who others are using that can cope with the rejects, unsubscribe requests etc. Don't use Exchange. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK?
