Exchange 2007 Receive Problems
Ok I got my DNS issues resolved it seems I can now query my DNS from the web and it see's my NS, SOA, PTRS, and MX Records HOORAY! Now the only problem I am left with is this. I setup the send connector within exchange management console and this works wonderfully. I port forwarded 25, 110, 587 so I can send and receive e-mail. But I have the problem of not being able to receive e-mail externally, internally it works fine. So this points me to my receive connectors which I have double and triple checked. Where could my problem lie? Like I said earlier the ports on my firewall are to accept WAN and LAN. Where else should I scour exchange for receiving e-mails externally? Also if you want to make sure I have setup the receive connectors properly please do so.Thank You!Jake Fry

Did you allow anonymous access on your default recieve connector? Or create a new recieve connector that allows anonymous access? From on outside machine, can you telnet to port 25 and issue an ehlo? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/153119

Cool thanks yeah I have made sure anonymous is checked but I am still at the location so I cant test port 25 wait maybe I can by logging into my server at home. I appreciate the help what about authentication on default TLS wouldnt block it would it?

are you requiring TLS? i think dnsstuff.com can tell you if it can get to port 25 from outside, but it won't go through a whole email sending process.

No we don't require TLS I have a strange feeling that the firewall is the cause of my grief i'll try that or www.dnsgoodies.com

Is the windows firewall turned on? Also, maybe try creating a new recieve connector for internet mail and make sure it is bound to all IP's. Maybe something is just a little off with the receive connectors.

I don't have windows firewall on because I don't have the windows firewall/ICS serverices running. I added a new connector called Mail and made sure anonymous was enabled and specified a port. I set my firewall to allow all SMTP traffic. I talked to Integra the ISP and they say that they do not block any ports. But when I do a query or a ping on the server from an outside source I do not get a ping response and port 25 does not respond. Thanks,Jake

If it works internally, but not externally it has to be the firewall or ISP right? Could you plug in a workstation right outside your firewall to test?

Thank you so much for your help I appreciate it. It was the firewall after all The destination LAN IP was not set to the server it was set to the entire network. Thank GOD its finally working THANK YOU SO MUCH!Jake Fry
