Exchange 2007 Receive NDR that I can not send as an email that is in my list of emails
I have a user setup with multiple smtp addresses such as user@contoc.com as the defualt reply address and user@contosjobs.com. When attempting to send an email from outlook 2007, with exchange 2007 sp2 server, we add the from field and type in the secondary emaill address, user@contosjobs.com, after sending the email we receive a NDR response: You are not allowed to send this message because you are trying to send on behalf of another sender without permission to do so. Please verify that you are sending on behalf of the correct sender, or ask your system administrator to help you get the required permission. I am unsure how to give permission to the user to send as an email address already assigned to them. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.Thank you,Samuel StairSamuel Stair

Found the work around http://serverfault.com/questions/30566/exchange-2007-cant-as-send-an-alternate-smtp-e-mail-address I used the last two answers from the above forum. 0 Assuming you've got an internal SMTP receive connector on your Exchange box, setting an extra SMTP account up in that user's mail profile will do the job. Just specify the appropriate 'from' address, and enter a dummy POP server so the user doesn't get two copies of all their mail. They'll get an extra drop-down box in the 'new mail' dialog that will let them choose which account to send from. link|flag answered Jun 23 at 20:23 RainyRat2,221314 <input id="33290-is-owned-by-question-owner" type="hidden" value="true" /> <input type="hidden" value="33290" /> 0 I just created new mailboxes for the users and created POP accounts for them. This ended up having the most functionally for what I needed. The pop accounts are configured to have their delivery location a separate folder in the users inbox (Outlook 2007). With Outlook 2003, you can do this with "to" rules link|flag answered Jun 29 at 14:52 jkmalnar1097 Samuel StairSamuel Stair
