Exchange 2007 Public Folder replacement
Hi, i am in the process of migrating to Exchange 2007. Is there a replacement for public folders in Exch 2K7 or has it just fallen away? Know i can replicate my old Pub folders from Exch 2003 to 2007 but if there is a newer better way to do it i will rather start Pub folders from scratch. Thanks

No, public folders are still around, but Microsoft wants users to move away from them and instead have us use SharePoint Services. If you have Outlook 2003 clients or older MAPI clients, you need public folders. Is is also necessary for WebDAV-based Entourage clients, but not Entourage 2008 EWS. When you install Exchange you have the option not to install public folders. You can however add them at a later stage. My opinion: SharePoint has a lot of interesting features, but there are many uses of public folders that still works great, such as mail-enabling them and replication. Public Folders are supported until at least 2016. jas
