Exchange 2007 Power Shell -DeleteContent from Exchange 2003 Mailboxes
I have a client that is wanting to upgrade to Exchange 2007. The issues is their Exhange 2003 database is in the terabytes. Is there a way to use the Exchange 2007 PowerShell commands to delete the content from lets say all the users Delete Items and Sent Items? Now I have tried the following lineGet-Mailbox -Database Exchange | Export-Mailbox -TargetMailbox John Doe -TargetFolder Sent Items -DeleteContentBut I get a return message that "The mailbox of the user "John Doe" resides on a previous version of Exchange and is not supported by this command."I have tried different variation of the above command but no such luck.Any suggestions?

Hi, Why don't you use exchange 2003 mailbox manager to delete the desired content? Leif

No reason not to. I am curious to know if the exchange 07 cmdlet works doing this type of action. I am also wondering now if you can export out mailboxes that reside in exchange 03 to pst files using the exchange 07 cmdlet. Do you have knowledge on this topic as well? The reason is that exmerge has a 2 GB limit as far as I know and the cmdlet in 07 does not have such a small limitation on the size of the pst files. Thanks for you help.J

You cannot manage Exchange 2003 with the Exchange 2007 Powershell cmdlets.

Sorry for the posts. But I figured it and you can do a lot of tasks with the Exchange 2007 cmdlet. The first thing to do is follow the setup to get the 32 Bit Management Tools running on an XP or 2003 Server. Then download the SP1 for Exchange 07 and install them. Do it from the Windows Cmd line due to I ran into a snag with the Remote Registry service hanging up. Anyways the install of the Exchange 07 SP1 was easy. Got to the SP1 files directory and ran setup /m:upgrade. It found that I only had Management Tools installed and did the upgrade. Once that was completed I was able to use the Exchange 2007 Management PowerShell to do import, exports, exports with deletes, date range deletes or exports, export of key ranges, exports out of Exhange 03 to Exchange 07 mailboxes. I used the following URL's to figure this out.http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/management-administration/managing-exchange-server-2007-using-windows-xp-workstation.htmlhttp://forums.msexchange.org/m_1800464184/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm#1800464184Thanks for your help and input.
