Exchange 2007 Postmaster Problem
hello all I haveone exchange 2007 sp1installed (Hub Transport),on windows 2008 no edge transport, has the latest update from Microsoft (update rollup 8). A few days ago I notice that im not receiving any delivery reports from the postmaster. Since I installed it I never configure any postmaster mailbox, but I receive mail delivery reports from the postmaster automatically when an email is delivery to another mail server outside our organization. I cannot see the postmaster mailbox in ADUC, so I intend that this is configured by default when you install exchange 2007. I try to investigate this problem beginning by some powershell commands: get-transportserver Name MessageTrackingLogEnabled ExternalPostmasterAddress ---- ------------------------- ------------------------- Exchangeserver nameTrue There is no postmaster external mailbox. Another command: Get-organizationconfig | fl This command returns many things, but the one thing that im interested in is this field: MicrosoftExchangeRecipientPrimarySmtpAddress : postmaster@mydomain.pt Conclusion I cannot solve the problem and I dont want to create an external postmaster mailbox, because in the past everything is working. If you guys can give me some help pointing to some kind of solution to my problem I appreciate. Best regards ALex

Hi Alex, Would you please let me know whether no NDR report is received or the NDR report can be received but is not from postmaster? Please understand that in Exchange 2007, when an NDR is sent to an internal sender, the NDR is sent from the Microsoft Exchange Recipient. When an NDR is sent to an external sender, the NDR is, by default, sent from the Postmaster@<Authoritative Domain> SMTP address.
