Exchange 2007 Password Expiration Notice not displayed in OWA
We have a single Exchange 2007 SP2 standard server with Update Rollup 4 installed on Windows 2008 Std Server SP2. Windows 2003 Domain. When users whose password will soon expire login to a Windows workstation on the domain they get the "password must be changed" notification. When the same users login to OWA they don't get the password expiration notification. Within OWA, the users are able to go to Options and change there password. How do I get the password expiration notice to display in OWA?

Hi, Please confirm whether use can change password successfully by Option function in OWA. If so, I suppose that OWA virtual directory may be corrupted or change password flag marked to disable change password notification. Please follow steps below try to reset them, 1. Recreate OWA virtual directory. a) Logon CAS server and open Exchange Management Shell. b) You can refer to the article below to run the following command: Remove-OwaVirtualDirectory "owa (default web site)" New-OwaVirtualDirectory -name "owa" -OwaVersion Exchange2007 -WebSiteName "Default Web Site" Reset OWA related Virtual Directory http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941201/en-us 2. Please run set-owavirtualdirectory to enable ChangePasswordEnabled. Run Set-casmailbox to enable OWAChangePasswordEnabled 3. Mark the change password flag on CAS server, a) Open a command Windows, locate to C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts b) Running the following command: cscript adsutil.vbs set w3svc\PasswordChangeFlags 0 If all the steps above do not help, then please try to re-install CAS role. Note: Before that ,please backup settings on CAS, such as internal URL and external URL, etc. I Hope this will helps. Regards. Notification of X number of days has never been available in OWA. The password reset tool was introduced in SP3 for Exch 2007. This will enable users to get notification that their password has expired and change their password at the login screen. Not sure if it actually tells you that you have X number of days before your password expires though. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607232(EXCHG.80).aspx http://www.expta.com/2010/06/new-exchange-2007-sp3-password-reset.html Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com

Within OWA, the users are able to go to Options and change there password. Is SP3 stable for Exch 2007?

Hi, First, please refer to the following article to assure that the "Password Change Notification" setting in policy (domain/local) is configured correctly. Please specify the number of days that a warning message is displayed before the user's password expires. Strengthening Domain Controller Policy Settings http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc773388(WS.10).aspx If the above setting is correct but the notification still disappears, it’s highly recommended to perform Shafaquat’s suggestions to reset OWA related Virtual Directory.
